BEWARE OF Drosophola Melanogaster !!

Take it from us, these Denny guys make some damned good wine!

The Denny Wine Club meets in the Broompark Community Centre, Davies Row, DENNY on the second Friday of every month at 8.00 pm. Most meetings are informal and consist of tasting the members' wines and general exchange of information both of winemaking and of setting the world to rights. Tasting of commercial wines is conducted twice per year as blind tastings. Once per year, the members are given a fixed recipe for a wine which must be ready for tasting on a set date some 6 to 9 months hence.

The club holds an annual competition on the Second Friday of February every year. There are 8 classes of white and red wine, both dry and medium sweet with 2 trophies for Most Points and for Best in Show.

If you are not a member of a wine club, but are interested in winemaking or wine tasting, you would be made most welcome if you visit us. 

We're a bit 'woozy' now but we'll be back for more at the next meeting. SEE the next most important dates on the calendar :-

For Wine of Night bring your bottles of wine as you normally do, with your own labels. They will be judged openly by your peers.

For a designated wine, bring this in a clear show bottle with a white stopper and a small label with your initials on it. This wine will be judged blind.

Points for both of the above categories and for the Annual Show will be awarded as follows :-  1st: 3 points, 2nd: 2 points, 3rd: 1 point.

We have introduced a new category for those members who bring Commercial wine and points will be awarded to each bottle with a maximum of 10 points on offer. Members will taste and allocate points out of 10 to each bottle on the night and the results will be averaged.
